Autism Behavioural Consultant
CBI Consultants, an innovative and progressive person and family centred support agency, is seeking skilled and creative personnel to provide early intervention behavioural consultation to children under six who have autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
Qualifications
- Must meet the requirements of a Category B service provider for the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) list - for specific requirements please see the ACT-BC website: http://www.actcommunity.net/registry_of_service_providers/information_for_service_providers/mcfd_application.htm
- Demonstrated skill designing and implementing family and child-centred intensive individualized curricula for young children with ASD including goals for home, school and community which address the areas of need in attending, imitation, understanding and using language, independence, social communication and play, motor planning and emotional regulation
- Demonstrated skill in applied behavioural analysis, particularly positive behavioural support (functional assessment and multi-element support plans)
- Demonstrated evidence of clearly written reports (plan of intervention) and intervention strategy descriptions
- Experience implementing a range of evidence-based support strategies, including augmentative and alternative communication strategies, visual support strategies, peer mediated learning, play, emotional and self regulation strategies
- Expertise in providing direct instruction using sound teaching methodology
- Experience modeling and training team members to implement the strategies in the plan of intervention
- Skill in editing digital video examples of strategies and case examples
- Excellent computer skills, oral presentation skills, and analytical skills,
- University degree in related field (Psychology, Education or Neuro Science)
- Preferred candidates will be fluent in a second language (Punjabi, Cantonese, Mandarin, Farsi)
Behavioural Consultant
CBI Consultants, a progressive person and family centred support agency, is seeking skilled and creative personnel to provide behavioural consultation for children, youth, and adults with behavioural challenges.
Qualifications
- At least three years experience working with individuals with challenging behaviour and developmental disabilities
- Demonstrated skill in developing person-centred plans, which include comprehensive, individualized goals and support strategies for home, school, work, recreation and community,
- Expertise in performing functional assessments (FA) of behaviour and developing multi-element positive behavioural support (PBS) plans
- Demonstrated ability to implement a range of evidence-based support strategies, including augmentative and alternative communication strategies, visual support strategies, peer mediated learning, imagery and relaxation
- Expertise in providing direct instruction using sound teaching methodology
- Experience modeling and training team members to implement strategies
- Skill in editing digital video examples for training purposes
- Excellent computer skills, oral presentation skills, analytical skills, and written skills
- University degree or commensurate experience, in a related field
- Fluency in a second language an asset
Instructional Specialist
CBI Consultants, an innovative and progressive person and family centred professional support agency, is seeking skilled, creative and energetic personnel to provide hands on systematic instruction to team members who support children, youth, and adults with behavioural challenges.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate has a Person-centred philosophy of support with a solid understanding of a functional assessment of behaviour.
- You will not be responsible for conducting or writing the assessment, but you can read and fully understand the assessment report written by the Behaviour Consultant.
- As the Instructional Specialist (IS), you are proficient at making the assessment recommendations come to fruition in the home, school, community or work environments.
- In the role of IS you will have the opportunity to work with a team of 20 people at CBI Consultants committed to excellence, innovation and evidence based practices.
- You will be applying your skills within a collaborative teaming approach (home, school, community, work placements).

- You have good technical writing skills and can write in plain language, instructional strategy descriptions which are evidence based.
- You are an excellent teacher with some knowledge of adult education. You are good at modelling and training others to implement strategies.
- You are creative and flexible and enjoy rolling up your sleeves and teaching families and other team members how to implement evidence based practices within their natural routines and environments (bed time, hockey arena, school, community center, dinner time etc.)
- As the IS, you also have very good computer and audio/visual skills. You are comfortable around electronic equipment; can develop visual supports in a variety of formats for individuals who are non-verbal or require augmentative communication systems; can operate a video camera and edit raw video down to produce quality teaching DVDs which illustrate effective strategies.
- You have worked with individuals with challenging behaviour and developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorders (ASD);
- As an asset you speak a second language.
