Scheduling Support (Half Day)
This half day workshop is for those who need practical ways to help the persons they are supporting to understand and plan their day. Schedules used correctly promote routine and predictability within an individual’s day and can be an effective, proactive strategy to teach skills and reduce challenging behaviour.
What you will learn:
- Why scheduling is useful as a tool to teach new skills and to reduce challenging behaviour, particularly those associated with transitions
- Simple ways to figure out the appropriate symbols for your focus individual
- Different ways to present and lay out scheduling systems, including daily, weekly and monthly systems to best suit the individual
- How to implement a scheduling system, convey changes and encourage flexibility
- How to ensure and incorporate choice making to promote independence
