Peer Mediated Learning & Play Groups
for Children Workshop (6 Hours)

In two 3-hour sessions this workshop will help you to plan and start your own peer playgroup to teach social interaction, language and play skills to your child. The model CBI teaches combines Peer Mediated Learning (PML) by Karen Pierce & Laura Schreibman and Integrated Play Groups formulated by Pamela Wolfberg. The workshop uses video and exercises to guide you.

What you will learn:

• Getting started - setting up your playgroup
• Choosing the expert peer models
• Best options for activities and materials based on your child’s interests
• Lessons and strategies to train and support the “expert” peers to interact and play with your child
• What individual modifications to make to meet the needs of your child
• How to evaluate the playgroup process and adapt as necessary
